Joey L. is a Canadian photographer and director based in New York. He has become known for his exemplary use of light and shadow, creating works with a painterly visual style that is influenced by the classical painters of the 17th-18th centuries. His work has been sought out by advertising clients including The National Geographic Channel, Summit Entertainment and The Government of Abu Dhabi, to name just a few, and is regularly featured in magazines and on billboards around the globe. He has shot celebrities including Robert De Niro and Jennifer Lawrence, and is just as comfortable documenting tribal life in Southern Ethiopia as he is tinkering with DIY photography kit in his Brooklyn studio.
